Energy Performance Testing

Performance energy testing is an essential element to building a high performance home. Many builders do not performance test their homes unless the municipal inspection requires them to do so. Other builders only “spot test” their homes, 1 out of 7 receive performance tests. M Street requires performance testing on every single home regardless of the demands of municipalities or ENERGY STAR. Duct leakage, a critical factor in energy efficiency, is commonly over 20% in most existing homes, while M Street Homes average less than 3.5%. Similarly, the tightness of an M Street home is typically 3-5 times tighter than the average existing home.
