Water Efficiency
The Manabloc plumbing system is a marvel of contemporary building science. Using cross-linked polyethylene piping (PEX) instead of traditional copper, fears about freeze-bursting pipes are eliminated. The Manbloc manifold reduces the plumbing connections in the average home by 80% (connections are where most leaks occur). In addition, the home uses less water, delivers hot water to every outlet up to 60% faster, and provides the occupant with complete shut-off control for every dispensing unit at a centralized box, much like an electrical circuit braker.

On-Demand Hot Water Systems
As part of M Street Homes continually evolving "M Street Edge" program designed to improve energy/water efficiency, comfort, durability, and healthy living, all of our homes are either equipped with On-Demand Hot Water Systems as standard features or are available as an option (see Included Features for individual communities). Frequently referred to as "Tankless" water heaters, on-demand hot water heater systems have the following advantages:
- Hot water is not generated until the occupant demands the hot water. Traditional water heaters use energy (gas or electric) to continually maintain a hot water reserve in anticipation of future need. This means water is being heated all day long, like a pot on the stove, every day. Even when the occupants are gone for weeks on vacation or business trips!
- On-Demand water heaters provide a continuous, inexhaustible stream of hot water that can service numerous outlets simultaneously. They only heat water when there is a demand; otherwise no energy is expended to heat water.
- Because On-Demand water heaters have no reservoir to continually heat, there is virtually no sediment or mineral deposit build-up as found in traditional water heaters. The risk of water tanks breaking over time and flooding the home is no longer a concern.
